In summer Ohakune offers fabulous canoeing, kayaking jet boating on the Whanganui river. Play a round of golf on a beautiful country course, or horse trek through the forest. There are many exciting walks and mountain bike rides in the area such as the Ohakune Old Coach Road which is an iconic part of New Zealand history It provided an all-weather cobblestone road for horse drawn coaches carrying passengers and cargo between the two railheads of the main trunk line. Visit the Hapuawhenua Viaduct where commercial Bungi jumping was born.
